Victoria and Jaydon’s Rabbit Island Engagement Photoshoot

Victoria and Jaydon’s Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot was the perfect reminder that engagement sessions aren’t about being “good in front of the camera”. Instead, they’re about feeling comfortable enough to be yourselves.

These two have been together for nearly seven years and are already well into planning their wedding. With their venue locked in at Spring Grove Drill Hall and me booked as their wedding photographer, this session was a chance to celebrate their engagement and, just as importantly, ease any nerves before the big day.

They chose Rabbit Island for its natural beauty and quiet, open space. One of the biggest reasons couples book a Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot is the sense of calm it offers. There are no crowds, no feeling watched, just sand, sea, and room to breathe. We kept things simple, sticking to the beach as the summer sun dipped lower in the sky a few weeks before Christmas. Warm light, soft tones, and that unmistakable golden glow made the evening feel relaxed from the very start.

Like many couples they were a little nervous at the beginning. But that’s one of the biggest benefits of an engagement shoot! It’s time to connect, talk, laugh, and build trust well before your wedding. We spent the session walking along the shoreline, chatting, joking, and getting to know each other better. Before long, the nerves melted away and were replaced with laughter and genuine moments between them.

The standout moments came naturally: walking hand in hand along the beach, shared laughs, quiet moments close together, and that easy connection that comes from years of growing together. Their story is one of loyalty, hard work, and shared dreams, from saving for their first home to getting engaged in Australia overlooking Dreamtime Beach. Those layers of history showed beautifully throughout their Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot.

By the end of the session, both Victoria and Jaydon felt more confident and excited than ever about having their wedding photos taken. They were absolutely obsessed with their images (the kind of reaction every photographer hopes for!) and couldn’t stop looking through them.

If you’re an engaged couple feeling nervous about being photographed, a Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot is the perfect way to slow down, feel at ease, and realise that beautiful photos come from connection, not perfection. And sometimes, all it takes is one relaxed evening to make the whole experience feel exciting instead of intimidating.
