A Fun & Relaxed Rabbit Island Engagement Photoshoot With Tara & George

Tara and George’s Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot was the perfect reflection of who they are together! It felt relaxed, playful, and showed me how completely at ease they are with one another. With their wedding just a month away, this session was a chance to slow things down, celebrate their connection, and finally have some professional photos that weren’t taken mid-hike or on a phone.

They chose Rabbit Island for its laid-back feel and wide open beach. It gives you all the beauty of the coast without feeling watched or crowded. That sense of space is one of the reasons a Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot works so well, especially for couples who want their session to feel natural rather than staged.

We met on a warm summer evening just after New Year, right as golden hour rolled in. Before we even picked up the camera, we’d already had their pre-wedding meeting, so the session felt more like catching up with mates than a formal photoshoot. From the start, Tara and George were laughing, joking, and sharing those quiet looks and touches that come from six years of growing together.

Their story began during level 4 lockdown: long conversations, distance, and finally meeting in person when restrictions eased. That ease and familiarity carried beautifully into their session. We kept things simple: walking barefoot along the beach, shoes tossed in the air for a laugh, and even recreating that iconic kiss from The Notebook (yes, it was as fun as it sounds).

The vibe was light and easy, with no pressure to “perform” for the camera. Instead, the focus was on movement, connection, and letting moments unfold naturally. This is exactly why engagement sessions are so valuable! They give couples the chance to feel comfortable in front of the camera and confident heading into their wedding day.

For Tara and George, this Rabbit Island engagement photoshoot was about celebrating each other before the whirlwind of the wedding. They were so excited to finally have images they could hang on the wall, share with family, and even use on their wedding day.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer and want photos that feel like you, an engagement session is the perfect place to start.
