A Wild & Empowered Beach Boudoir Shoot at Tahunanui
This beach boudoir shoot with Erin was never about perfection. It was about reclamation, presence, and marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Erin booked her session during a period of major life change. After a breakup and a season of upheaval, she wanted to celebrate herself. Not the version shaped by anyone else’s expectations, but the woman she is becoming. A beach boudoir shoot felt like the right way to honour that transition: raw, powerful, and deeply personal.
We met at Tahunanui Beach in Nelson on a spring evening, just as golden hour arrived. What we didn’t expect was the weather. The wind was relentless! It blasted us and was col and dramatic, whipping sand across the beach in waves. Instead of fighting it, we leaned in. The wild conditions became part of the story, adding movement, intensity, and emotion to every frame.
The vibe of the shoot was unapologetically powerful. Erin moved between an iconic slogan tee and underwear, a flowing black dress that caught the wind beautifully, and a crisp white shirt worn into the water. One of the most memorable moments came when she agreed to lie down in the sand despite the wind feeling like it might peel layers of skin away. That choice resulted in some of the strongest, most striking images from the session: grounded, fearless, and fully embodied.
Like many women, Erin arrived feeling nervous. That hesitation softened quickly into laughter, confidence, and ease. By the end of the session, she was glowing, having pushed past fear and allowed herself to be seen. This beach boudoir shoot wasn’t about posing; it was about movement, trust, and letting go.
This session represented self-actualisation: the moment where one chapter closes and another begins. Erin left feeling lighter, energised, and proud. The laughter that carried us through the final moments of the shoot said everything.
If you’re moving through change, feeling unsure, or standing on the edge of something new, a beach boudoir shoot can be a powerful way to reconnect with yourself. Not as a performance, but as a celebration of who you are right now.
