Tara & George | Boathouse Nelson Wedding
Some love stories just make you smile. Tara and George met online during the very first week of Level 4 lockdown - George was in Picton, and Tara was in Wellington. They spent six weeks talking nonstop before she caught the first passenger ferry across to meet him. Love at first sight? Absolutely.
Their Boathouse Nelson wedding was everything you'd hope for from a couple who bonded over lockdown phone calls and hiking adventures: relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter.
The day started with a first look in Queens Gardens, bathed in gorgeous summer sunshine. Watching these two see each other for the first time (all smiles and happy tears!) was the perfect way to kick things off. From there, we headed to The Boathouse Nelson for their wedding, where around 80 of their favourite people gathered for an afternoon ceremony followed by one heck of a party.
There was no formal seating for this Boathouse Nelson Wedding - just cocktail vibes, Salvitos pizza, a grazing table put together by family, and yes, beer pong. The best man's speech had the crowd in stitches (and unknowingly shouting some very creative Portuguese phrases). Tara's grandfather signed their wedding certificate, and the handmade wedding arch the couple built themselves? It didn't just make it to the venue in one piece, it looked amazing (and all the seagulls who tried to sit on it definitely agreed!).
Golden hour took us down to the slipway for portraits, where we bumped into an older couple out for an anniversary stroll. It was a lovely little reminder of what's ahead for these two. Trust me - they’ll be growing old together!
With flowers by Evermore Floral Design, Tara looking stunning in her restored second-hand gown, George sharp in a Barkers suit, and celebrant Kate Silke (who they won at a pub quiz silent auction!) leading a heartfelt ceremony, this day was pure magic.
